We are a small friendly group which is run for all widowed people or for the surviving partner of any relationship. Anyone who is the surviving partner of a relationship is eligible to join.
Currently our ages range from 60 to over 90. We are an all inclusive group and make no distinctions between race, religion, social or marital status.
At our meetings we have a variety of guest speakers, projector shows, quizzes, games (bingo, beetle drives, etc.) raffles, a cup of tea/coffee and cakes. We have parties to mark various events throughout the year, amongst which are: Easter, International Women's Day, The anniversary of our inauguration, Yorkshire Day, and of course, Christmas. We have coach/cinema/restaurant trips but, most importantly, a good time with lots of laughs.
The group has been in existence since 1975 when it was set up as a branch of the National Association of Widows. In 2011 we became the Yorkshire Widowed Social Group, so that we can offer more social facilities for those living within our own Yorkshire area.
